Ochang Oguta and his wife Anne Resisya are from South Sudan. Painted on 1996 in the Kakuma Refugee Camp .
The artist requested this couple to pose for the painting the way the that they would be if they were at home in South Sudan, they came completely naked. This explains the presence of the shield. The artist placed the shield it that position to hide Ochang Oguta’s nakedness. His wife wore a wrap round her waist.
