Kamba

Painted in 1995. Kilui, a farmer and war veteran was over 100 years old at the time. He was a widower and was living with his fifth born child. He hailed from Kitangi, Makutano in Machakos..

He was one of the few surviving Kamba with perforated ears a unique haircut worn by men from yester years. The crest on the head “hair” was meant to act as a shelter for the spirit. He wore fabrics fashioned like the Akamba traditional skin attire.
