Gabbra

Mzee Abubo and his wife a village elder in Turbi. He was 78 years old when this painting was done. The couple live a traditional lifestyle.The lady looks elegant in jewellery that adorns her head, neck and arms. The artist subtlety defines the coil of a brass crown on her head. The beaded necklace falls delicately against her chest while the sheen of the aluminium wrist bands enhances the bead strings besides them.

The Gabbra have been predominantly Christians but there is a Cushitic-Islamic indoctrination crusade which is threatening
Christianity.
